Internet Explorer 7 Logo

Our previous tutorial dealt with synchronising bookmarks with the Firefox browser - today we look at how Internet Explorer tackles this problem. Again, there are a few different solutions that can be applied - this is just one of them.

Unlike the Firefox solution which once set up is automated, you will have to manually log onto the Favourites website to synchronise. On the plus side, it is very easy to do and once set up you are given a few nice options to play around with. Such as being able to choose which favourites you’d like to share with friends.

For this tutorial you will need a `Windows Live login ID’. Chances are you already have one, if you use Hotmail, Windows Messenger, XBox Live, Office Live - to name but a few, you will have a “Live ID”. If you don’t have one, it takes a few moments to set one up, you can do so here.

OK, lets keep it short and sweet. Here are the few simple steps to set this up.

This tutorial is performed on Windows Vista - there may be a few boxes or steps that appear for Vista users that DON’T appear for Windows XP. This is just due to extra security features that Vista has and does not effect the outcome of the procedure.

Internet Explorer Solution - LIVE FAVOURITES

  2. Login with your Live ID
  3. Click the top line of text that says “Import your favourites to get started”
  4. A page will appear with a yellowish bar across the top stating that the websites wants to install an add-on. Click the yellow bar
  5. Another box will appear saying “Windows needs your permission to continue”. Click “Continue”

Next post we shall embark into the world of Content Management. For the uninitiated all that means is that it will essentially allow anyone “non-technical” to manage their own website! We will explain the steps from start to finish (in layman’s terms) of setting up and managing your very own website.

Now that has to be worth taking a look at!

Catch you all later!
